Ian Bishop-Laggett

About me

I have previously worked in our ward at Schroders within the Information Security department. I now work in the neighbouring ward for a joint venture of Schroders. Cyber security is a concern for businesses and individuals and I believe that my expertise in this area will enable me to make an important contribution to the civic City as a Common Councilman.

I also have experience of local campaigning, which I will use to promote the interests of constituents. I know a number of those constituents through both my work and my active involvement as Chairman of the Bassishaw Ward Club, which I have been helping to expand. I am encouraged to have already received pledges of support from several business and residential voters in the ward. I would welcome the opportunity to come and meet you in person to discuss my candidacy and the role of Common Councilman within the City of London.

If I am elected, I will:

• Focus on achieving practical results in issues that matter to the workers and residents in our ward and the wider City.
• Take an active role in protecting the environment in our ward and the wider City, such as cleaner air, road traffic, streets and walkways.
• Bring my expertise in cyber security to decision making within the City Corporation, and support initiatives by the City Police to promote security awareness.
• Continue to support Fintech and Cyber start-ups based in the City, and the growth of entrepreneurial businesses generally.
• Support the engagement of businesses in the ward with the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
• Promote diversity, in all its forms, through practical means.

I value the history and heritage of the City, and am proud of the long involvement within it. I will uphold the City traditions that have stood the test of time.

I am currently President of the Enfield Rotary Club and I will actively support the engagement of businesses in the ward with the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
